H2 2025
Title evidence of too much time spent talking with business people.
Anyway, I had a rest after working too much to get everything prepared for the exhibition in May/June this year, and now I’m working again. I have two trains of thought: working out a doodle I did on holiday, and going back to the ideas of a painting I did in 2015 (burnt). Both feelings I’m doing on big (relative) paper. The first is an expression of movement I haven’t done before, and the second is this dark red painting you can see if you look through my paintings.
I have no deadlines, and the only thing I’m up against is my own patience, as it should be. I think painting is best when done for its own sake, but at the same time, you never know if something’s going to be successful until it’s done. In my head what I started will work, but it could easily turn out to have been a big long slow mistake once I finish.
A wiser person than me said never share what you’re working on till it’s finished, but what the hell is that all about? I do not know. For me, process is a big part of the work, and I like to share.
