Some music I enjoyed in 2025
Records in no particular order that I enjoyed while painting in 2025.
I’m really enjoying this, it’s warm, beautifully made and constantly interesting. A Lovely late career from my favorite post rockers.
I will buy anything by Jefre Cantu-Ledesma: this year’s album was a real standout.
Shamefully missed her first couple of releases. They are amazing, she really draws out the calm from craziness.
Whatever you call this I like it, and was pleased to get reacquainted with Brendan Canty’s drumming.
Again, had missed MPU101 until this year, and now have his whole discography. It may not be revolutionary, but it’s so well done.
Apron is still my current favorite label, and this compilation is great. Esoteric and cool.
You had me at piano, organ and synths making drones. Lovely.
This appeared right at the end of the year, and it’s very nice. Field recordings of water with gentle synths.
He’s been releasing tons of music recently, so that’s awesome for me. Twisted Pfeffer was a highlight, but there are great tracks on all of his releases so get into it.
Someone else who I buy on sight. Dâm’s long tracks are just the best antidote to the pointless speed of modern life.
Looking forward to more music and painting in 2026.
