more triangles
While waiting for paint to dry I finished off this, the last, I think, preparatory drawing for the painting.
I made the changes that made sense after the last one, so this rhythm is the final one. So there’s no more right angle triangles, I felt that made things smoother.
Here the rows go from “big change” to “small change”. In this direction I’m using four waves - going from small to big will just be three. So the whole big-small-big movement will be six rows.
I could now entertain myself by drawing out the whole thing, but I think this is enough.
I’m not inking this all, either. Time consuming and the last one confirmed whatever it was I wanted to confirm.
How much, if any, of a margin the final work will have on the canvas is still up for grabs. MY studio mate Marc asked me, and I said “yeah there will be a margin” and he thinks there shouldn’t. He may have a point; a margin makes things easier for me to paint, but is not quite as impressive at the end. Or is it?
I have a problem that as soon as someone suggests something, my brain goes “no”, but then runs off and works out how to do it anyway and I feel obliged. Unless it’s a terrible suggestion, of course.

I wanted to record a little mix for myself recently; I’m also leaving that here. It was recorded live, errors and all, and I could have planned some of it a bit better, but I enjoy the general flow of it. I wanted to start out “fast” and get slower, so there’s a block of bass heavy Detroit deep house, and that goes into some ambience.. and then off wherever I felt afterwards.
There’s music from 2025 and music from 1994, 1982… Some of it is what I’ve been listening to recently, some of it was me rediscovering things I listened to a lot over the last few decades. Usual disclaimer - I’m not saying it’s any good, and results may vary. It will probably try your patience. The first quite a lot of it is very much me in “I love synths” mode… but by the end there’s some dream pop. In between there’s other stuff too!
